A week ago, I went to the hospital clinic for a routine 39 week check up. Then I filled up the car with petrol, and went home to get dinner sorted and the kids off to bed.
All the while, I was having some mild contractions. The ones that make you think, “is this it?” Edgar is our third baby, but for health complications, I’ve had two inductions of labour, so I’ve never actually had a natural labour before. Finally, after about three hours, I decided it was time to call the hospital, with the “um, I think I’m in labour, but I’m not sure?” Come in, they said, and I’m glad I did. It was on.
After a few hours of labouring, it got really serious. My labour with Talbot was quick; fast and furious is how I describe it, so of course I was thinking, great I’m nearly there! Nuh-uh. Another couple of hours of strong, close, huge contractions and finally Edgar arrived, early Wednesday morning.
After my hardest pregnancy (another story for another time) and my hardest labour, Edgar is here.
And she’s a girl!
We have named her Charlotte Addison (but she will remain here as Edgar), weighing in at 2.700kg (that’s just shy of 6 pounds). She is almost identical, in size and looks, to her big brother.
We are all besotted with her and here are some piccies, never to be repeated.
